As a professional photographer, I am often asked by my clients what to expect when they first meet me for a wedding photography consultation in preparation for your wedding. What is the purpose of a consultation in the first place you may ask. Basically, your wedding photography consultation with me is to ensure that I can prepare to give you the greatest photos and portraits of your wedding as possible! In the consultation we will go over such things as were your wedding and reception will take place and the time of day. Knowing whether the location is in a church, at Virginia Beach (or another beach), or elsewhere and knowing the time of day will help me understand lighting conditions at your wedding. I will also be able to visit the location before your wedding to get a better sense of the best photo angles and ambient light levels. If your wedding will be in the evening I can bring special lighting equipment to make dramatic night shots (such portraits are especially beautiful on the beach)!

            We will also discuss the schedule of events in your wedding. With this information, I can get a better idea of when to take portraits, group photos, family portraits, bride portraits, groom portraits, and when to mingle among your guests to get action shots of their smiling faces while they share in the joy of your wedding day! I can even make some suggestions for optimal times to take photos. We can even schedule a separate day especially for bride and groom portraits at another location (I can suggest many that I know of which make for great wedding portraits). My goal is to capture your happy memories in photos without adding a schedule burden to your wedding!

            Other information that we would discuss is what family members will be there. It would even be helpful for you to bring some photos of your relatives to show me. Information on where they will be sitting and the general layout of your wedding will also be helpful. This way, I will be able to recognize them and get several great photos of them as well; not to mention family photos! And what about the style of your wedding? Are you going for an elegant or classical wedding, a more modern style, a realistic style, or something else? I can tailor my photography to match the style you are trying to achieve in your wedding! We can certainly discuss this during the consultation! Finally, we will have some discussion of any special types of portraits you would like. For example, would you want some portraits of you and your new husband during a beautiful sunset, on the beach, or among a gorgeous grove of trees? During our consultation, we will discuss some of these possibilities! As affordable photography goes, I can provide the best while not breaking your wedding budget!
